VES, in collaboration with 845 Design Group, spearheaded the transformation of a 3,500 square foot former Montgomery Ward storefront into a contemporary bakery-café in the heart of downtown LaGrange. The project involved a comprehensive renovation that breathed new life into the historic space, creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for patrons.
The design team embarked on a collaborative journey with the owner's trusted kitchen and interiors consultants to conceptualize and execute a space that seamlessly blended modern aesthetics with the building's inherent character. VES provided essential MEP/FP engineering services to ensure the bakery-café's optimal functionality and efficiency.
The project encompassed the design and installation of cutting-edge HVAC systems tailored to the unique demands of a commercial bakery and café environment. State-of-the-art lighting solutions were carefully selected to create a warm and inviting ambiance while optimizing energy efficiency. The VES team also oversaw the design and implementation of a comprehensive plumbing and fire protection system to meet stringent health and safety standards.
By combining architectural vision with expert engineering, the project successfully revitalized the former retail space, transforming it into a thriving community gathering place that offers delectable treats and a memorable customer experience.

LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTER CAFE

VES, in continued collaboration with 845 Design Group, was selected to deliver MEP/FP engineering services for the renovation of the Legoland Discovery Center Café in Schaumburg. This exciting project involved a comprehensive transformation of the existing café, dining room, and private party room, all situated on the second floor of the popular family entertainment destination.
The client sought to elevate the overall café experience by streamlining the ordering and pickup process, introducing the full Starbucks menu, and infusing the space with a fresh, contemporary design that aligned with the Legoland brand identity. Moreover, the private party room was to be reimagined to create a truly unforgettable celebration space.
To achieve these objectives, VES worked closely with the client, general contractor, and Legoland's corporate design team to develop a design solution that was both functional and visually appealing. The project presented unique challenges due to the need to maintain the facility's operations throughout construction. To minimize disruptions to visitors, the majority of construction work was strategically scheduled for overnight and early morning hours.
VES successfully delivered a fun, safe, and efficient café environment that exceeded the client's expectations. The café's layout and equipment were optimized, the Starbucks menu was integrated, and the aesthetic was revitalized. The private party room was also transformed.
