Job Captain/BIM Designer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Architecture industry with strong technical abilities and working knowledge of building construction techniques and materials

  • Licensed individuals (or those on licensure track) preferred

 

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow VES production standards for the preparation and filing of documents and drawings

  • Need to be self-disciplined and effectively manage time to complete work to meet client deadlines and project budget

  • Perform site surveys, accurately draft findings for base sheet preparation

  • Provide design support for building and site design including floor planning, exterior elevations, and perspectives

  • Perform code study (ICC or local code) relative to life safety requirements, building type, construction type, occupant loads, exiting, and rated wall applications. Interpret land-use regulations and perform basic zoning research such as overlay districts, bulk and density standards, and parking requirements

  • Accurately prepare construction documents, including sheet layouts, drawings, and schedules

  • Develop design or technical solutions under supervision of a Project Architect

  • Review shop drawings and project submittals under the direction of a Project Architect; process and maintain records of RFIs and submittals

  • Organize and update BIM libraries

  • Ability to travel as required to project sites within the Chicagoland area for site surveys or meetings

 

Software Skills (Preferred)

  • Expertise with Revit (modeling, creating families, preparing CD’s)

  • Proficiency with relevant computer programs including: AutoCAD, SketchUp or other 3D Modeling programs, Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu

  • Ability to create renderings using 3D Studio Max and similar software a plus

  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of current model building codes including but not limited to IBC, IECC, and Accessibility

Position
Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Mechanical or Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineering minimum, bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 3-5 years of plumbing and fire protection engineering/design experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of NFPA, IPC, Illinois Plumbing, and Chicago Building Codes

  • CPD Certification a plus

  • Self-starter with the ability to interact with a variety of clients

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with MEP in house engineers and architects

  • Work with outside firms as part of sub-consultant team

  • Work under supervision of Senior Plumbing/FP Engineer to design plumbing/FP systems from schematic design through project completion

  • Produce detailed design documents and specifications under guidance of Senior Engineer

  • Perform site surveys, existing condition assessments and assist in writing reports 

  • Check shop drawings and assist during construction

  • Work with Microsoft Teams program for meetings and collaboration

 

Software Skills (Preferred)

  • Revit experience a must. Autodesk Certified Professional preferred

  • AutoCAD experience a plus

BIM Designer

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited university in Architecture or Engineering preferred

  • Will consider applicants with documented work experience in the A/E industry

  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical / electrical design or production coordinator role

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in modeling and model management of project with direction from our partners

  • Adhere to project BXP and BIM standards

  • Resolve clash detection of models as required

  • Attend project meetings, document VES action items

  • Prepare project deliverables and issuances

  • Assist in other VES projects / initiatives as Primary project schedule allows

 

Software Skills (Preferred)

  • Revit experience a must. Autodesk Certified Professional preferred

  • BIM 360 experience a plus

  • Revit family editing a plus

  • AutoCAD experience a plus

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • FE or PE strongly preferred (but not required)

  • 7 or more years as a mechanical design engineer for an MEP or A/E firm

  • Experience with healthcare, higher education, laboratories, commercial and other substantial projects

  • Self-directed individual who can work independently

  • Project management and team coordination skills are strongly desired

  • Positive, can-do attitude

  • Outstanding problem solver
     

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the mechanical engineering design from concept to construction administration

  • Work with other project mechanical engineers to complete jobs on time and on budget

  • Coordinate the mechanical systems with electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineers on team

  • Coordinate with in-house or consultant architects as required for the project

  • Ability to travel as required to project sites within Chicago area
     

Software Skills (Preferred)

  • AutoCAD

  • Revit MEP

  • Familiar with MS Office 365 Suite

  • Trane Trace or similar HVAC load calculation program

  • Various equipment selection software programs such as ESP, Greenheck CAPS, etc.

  • Energy modeling software experience is a plus, not required
